PEEPEEKISIS CREE NATION — Outside, the October air held more than a nip of cold; inside, the teepee was warm as guests settled into a circle.

The gathering included community members and the morning’s hunting party, along with select invited guests and chief visionary officer Alicia Morrow from the Comeback Society, a Regina non-profit focused on Indigenous reconnection.

Morrow facilitated what was about to happen: Harvesting a buffalo from the herd on the First Nation to use in the meal program her agency runs to feed the homeless and most vulnerable in the city.
