Teachers, parents have ‘mixed feelings’ about returning to schools – Regina Leader-Post

“We were told to pull out as much of our extra furniture as we can. There was nothing for me to pull out because it’s just wall to wall desks, and there is maybe a foot between kids at best.”

Mackenzie Kulcsár remembers her first day of kindergarten as a day filled with excitement and friends.

She never thought her daughter’s memories of her first day would be filled with hand washing and instructions not to touch her classmates.

Yet that will likely be four-year-old Mára’s experience when she steps foot into École Connaught Community School for the first time in September.

“She’s not going to know differently,” said Kulcsár. “She’s not going to know it was better for us, but we will, and so I have that sort of nostalgic sense of mourning for her.”
