Recapture of Inmate from Saskatchewan Penitentiary Minimum security unit

October 19, 2015 – Prince Albert, Saskatchewan – Correctional Service Canada

At 7:53 p.m. on October 18, 2015 inmate Hector Thomas Bird who had been unlawfully at large since 9:30 p.m. October 5, 2015 was apprehended by the Montreal Lake Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Correctional Service Canada is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Ensuring the safety and security of institutions, staff, and public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system.
