Saskatchewan has inked a deal to send about 3,000 new road signs.
The provincial government announced on Tuesday that it agreed to a six-month pilot project to produce thousands of signs with SAGE Roadway Signs, a division of Saskatoon-based business JNE Welding.
“Road signs are critical for highway safety and efficient travel and this agreement will help fill a void and improve turnaround times for new signage,” Highways and Infrastructure Minister Greg Ottenbreit said.
The deal will include about 500 stop signs, 300 signs indicating a maximum speed of 100 kilometres per hour, 160 with a maximum speed of 80 km per hour, 300 yellow diamond left turn signs, 300 yellow diamond right turn signs, 200 do not enter signs and 80 deer crossing signs.
