Regina, Saskatchewan — The First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv) proudly welcomes two exceptional faculty members to its Regina Campus, effective July 1, 2024. Their appointments strengthen the university’s Indigenous Health Studies programs and enrich the academic experience for all students.

Trisha Campbell, a First Nations woman of Cree ancestry and member of the Mosakahiken Cree Nation in northern Manitoba, brings a wealth of academic and community experience. She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Psychology from the University of Regina and a Master of Public Health from the University of Saskatchewan, with a certificate in Substance Use, Health, and Wellbeing.
Trisha’s work has involved collaboration with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and individuals with lived experience. She specializes in qualitative health research, program planning and evaluation, and peer support. Her passion lies in advancing Indigenous representation in healthcare systems and promoting community-led research that addresses the priorities of Indigenous peoples.

Whitney Ogle, also known by her Lakota name Wíŋyaŋ Wašté (Good Woman), is from the Wood Mountain Lakota First Nation and a citizen of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in South Dakota. Gifted her name by her grandmother Elizabeth (Holy Breath) Lecaine, Whitney is a proud Lakota and Ukrainian woman, deeply rooted in her family, culture, and community.

She is currently completing her Master’s in Indigenous Education at FNUniv and brings over 15 years of experience in Indigenous social work. Whitney’s work is centered on revitalizing the Lakota language and way of life, with a commitment to cultural regeneration, ceremony, and intergenerational impact.

These new appointments reflect FNUniv’s continued commitment to advancing Indigenous knowledge systems and creating a transformative learning environment grounded in culture, community, and care.
