Four open houses at the new Emergency Wellness Centre drew hundreds of people to the new facility on Fairmont Drive.

Tribal Chief Mark Arcand along with CEO Shantelle Watson presented the plan for the new facility to the crowd, many of the people were Fairhaven residents. Tribal Chief Arcand explained the crisis facing the community and exactly what the new Wellness Centre will serve.

Saskatoon Police Service, Saskatoon Fire Department, and Medavie paramedics have partnered with STC as the expansion begins.

Tribal Chief Arcand explained that there would be four pods that would be home to 25 people in each pod. With future plans of building individual rooms inside the pods in order to give the relatives privacy. Each relative will receive a bed, hygiene products, three meals a day plus snacks and an opportunity to take part in programs and resources to help them get back on their feet. A full-time paramedic, as well as mental health counselor, will be on site.

The crowds which were mostly Fairhaven residents heard that a commercial kitchen and newly expanded washroom facilities would be added.

STC also had all program managers on hand to explain to the public each of the different programs and departments.

The first relatives will move in on November 23rd.
