AFOA Canada to Honour Three Outstanding Recipients Of The 14th Annual Nutrien Indigenous Youth Financial Management Awards

Ottawa, ON – September 26th, 2019 – AFOA Canada will recognize three recipients of the 14th Annual Nutrien Indigenous Youth Financial Management Awards on Wednesday, October 9th during a special luncheon at AFOA Canada’s 20th Anniversary National Conference in Saskatoon, SK.

The 14th Annual Nutrien Indigenous Youth Financial Management Awards will be presented to:

  1. Elizabeth Gagné – Harvest City Christian Academy, Regina, SK
  2. Nathan Headrick – St. Mary’s College, Garden River First Nation, ON
  3. Natalie Ward – Bayside Academy, Port Hope Simpson, NL

About the Award

Launched in 2007, this award was created by AFOA Canada to address demand in our communities for Indigenous financial management professionals. With the generous sponsorship and support of Nutrien, we are celebrating our 14th Annual Indigenous Youth Financial Management Awards! The Awards are open to all Indigenous youth in grades 11 and 12. Applicants are required to submit an essay which is reviewed and ranked by a selection committee. Recipients will be flown to Ottawa to participate in AFOA Canada’s 20th National Conference and special youth program. Students are introduced to career opportunities in financial management, meet financial management and academic professionals, as well as Indigenous Leaders, and are provided with information on pursuing an education in financial management. All award recipients also become eligible for a $5,000 scholarship.
