Experienced Communications Specialist with 5+ years of demonstrated corporate communications experience with developing and editing communication materials to achieve brand consistency, content and message coordination.

We are seeking an experienced Communications Specialist with 5+ years of demonstrated media communications experience to work with the Manager of Communications, as well as the CEO, on developing and editing communication materials to achieve brand consistency, content and message coordination and advance the interests of Nation Talk with First Nation Communities and leadership, Indigenous Health Officials and key external stakeholders.

The right mix of organizational and communication skills is key to success. Attention to detail and a proven ability to manage priorities are also essential. Role and specifications of the position below:

  • Experience with media strategy, writing and content development
  • Passionate and curious about the tech and business press landscape
  • Develop corporate brand positioning and messaging ideas throughout various marketing activities such as online or offline surveys, focus groups, and online analytics
  • Assist Marketing management team in establishing and strengthening brand management
  • Build relationships with media, and engage with press, bloggers, influencers
  • Act as main external contact with public relations and external stakeholders in relation to product branding and marketing information and inquiries, especially for new products
  • Responsible for marketing communications and public relations activities for all product line, both internally and externally
  • Develop, write, proofread and edit a wide range of communications materials for various marketing activities including our website, email campaigns, press plans, blog posts, bylines, messaging, FAQs, and reactive statements and social media presence
  • Identify key media opportunities and generate proactive and timely pitching ideas
  • Assist in media content creation including media briefs, news releases, pitches and speaking remarks
  • Collect information and statistics on your assigned product line target audience and competitors
  • Develop social media tactics including LinkedIn thought leadership pieces to help tell the company’s story
  • Help ensure metrics are in place to track results and effectiveness of communications activities

Required Skills:

  • At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a communications or media relations role, advertising and or public relations
  • Exceptional written communications skills including editing, proofreading and attention to detail
  • Understanding of the needs of different media outlets (print, trade, social, broadcast,) and social media channels
  • Ability to pitch media, write for external audiences and coordinate incoming media opportunities (Design skills including PPT, adobe suite of tools, etc.)
  • Open to trying new, visual and creative tactics and methods to engage employees
  • Completion of Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising, Marketing, PR, Business preferred
  • Good English language skills

  • Bilingualism (English/French)
