SJHL to honour Indigenous players – MBC Network Radio Online

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League says it will be looking into ways it can honour Indigenous players that have been part of the history of the league.

“This will be accomplished with determining at least one player from each team, past or present, to assist with this effort,” said the SJHL in a news release.

The La Ronge Ice Wolves have had several key Indigenous players over the years suit up for them. Ice Wolves Marketing Director Terry “Moose” Hunt likes the SJHL’s idea.

“Over the years that we’ve had this team, we’ve had some great, great Indigenous hockey players,” said Hunt. “I think it’s long overdue.”
