Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities – News Release February 13, 2018
February 13, 2018
The Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities echoes the words of Premier Scott Moe urging communities to demonstrate consideration, patience and understanding in the weeks ahead following the conclusion of the Gerald Stanley trial last week. SARM too believes that Saskatchewan people are better united than divided. It takes community to build a healthy, strong rural Saskatchewan.
SARM will continue to cultivate relationships with the Federation of Sovereign Indian Nations and the Office of the Treaty Commissioner to identify areas of common ground to advance all our communities. SARM has a rural indigenous working group that will guide us in the challenging conversations ahead so that we find common ground and a path forward to working together.
“SARM recognizes that all municipalities need to work together,” stated President Ray Orb, “and we are committed to working with our membership in promoting cooperation with our First Nation neighbours.”
