Over the lunch hour, six teams of 11 went through the relay, run for the third consecutive year, starting with a 20 kg. pack haul and ending when each group was able to start a fire and get water to boil. In between, there was a rabbit run, canoe carry, sled pull, squat jump, ring and pin toss, log cut, log toss and log cross.

“This event was basically skills needed by aboriginal people to survive the winters, for entertainment, for all those kinds of things,” said Shelley Belhumeur, aboriginal student advisor at the local Woodland campus.
