The Royal Saskatchewan Museum (RSM) is streaming a special series of online programs to celebrate National Indigenous History Month.
“National Indigenous History Month is an important opportunity for anyone to learn about, share in and enjoy Indigenous culture in all its richness and diversity,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Gene Makowsky said in a news release issued Monday.
May 28 to July 9 —Elder Hazel Dixon recounts the seven Grandfather Teachings. They are seven principles that form the foundation of an Indigenous way of life: wisdom, love, respect, courage, honesty, humility and truth. The teachings are considered gifts to help respect the creator, the earth and each other. The short videos are released on Thursdays until July 9 are available on the RSM website at https://royalsaskmuseum.ca/rsm/visit/event-calendar/item?id=944.
June 13 —Follow Theresa Walter, First Nations program specialist to explore and hear a fascinating story in a teepee display video tour.
