Fatal House Fire: English River First Nation

On Sunday, January 18, 2015 at approximately 11:00 p.m. Patuanak RCMP received a call about a fire at a residence on the 100 block of Mink Avenue on English River First Nation. Members responded to the scene where a residence was fully engulfed in flames.
Two people, a 24-year-old female and 10-year-old male, both from English River First Nation, were removed from the house by members of the community and English River Fire Department. They were transported to English River Health Services where they were pronounced deceased.
The names of the deceased and photos of the site will not be released at this time. The families and community are asking for their privacy during this difficult time.
Autopsies have been ordered by the Office of the Chief Coroner and will take place later this week in Saskatoon.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
