Canoe Lake brothers hope to tackle a championship with Regina Thunder this season – Eagle Feather News

Two brothers from Canoe Lake First Nation will be living a dream come true this upcoming Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) season playing for the Regina Thunder together.

Head Coach Scott MacAuley was in Prince Albert for work in 2015 and attended École St Mary High School’s spring camp where he first noticed Damon Iron.

He took note that Damon’s size and strength and thought he had the tools to be offensive lineman. He also took into consideration that their scout at St. Mary’s, John Germs, talked highly of Damon’s character.

The Regina Thunder decided they wanted Damon and after inviting him to camps, he was offered a spot on the team.
